| Jheng Jhengyin
Jheng Jhengyin was Jheng Rupei's penname. Coming from
Tianjin, he had learned some kung fu and was familiar with the gang's rules. When he was
young, he once worked as a teacher in an old style private school, sihshu. Because of
financial difficulties he began writing wusia novels. Collectively he wrote 88 books,
which chiefly were medium-length novels. Apart from his most famous work, Yingjhua Wang,
his other well-known stories include Tiannan Yisou, Lihun Zihmu Cyuan, Hei Fonghuang, Nyu
Tuhu and Huitou Ya.
Yingjhua Wang and its sequel altogether are more than two
million words in 103 chapters. They were published as series in a newspaper called 369
Huabao in Tianjin in 1941. The theme of this story is about the revenge of the Huaiyang
Bang gang, led by Wang Daolong, on its irreconcilable enemy the Fongwei Bang gang. So Wang
led a group of martial arts masters to fight the Fongwei Bang gang on the Yandangshan
Mountains. The main story line is simple and clear; the development is suspenseful and
sentimental. |
