      The knight-errant novels became very popular after the success of the wusia series, Jinghua Longhu Dou by Liang Yusheng Sin Wan Bao in 1953. In 1955 Jin Yong started his first wusia series Shujian Enchoulu in the Sin Wan Bao. This work was very successful and the newspaper also became very hot in the market. Subsequently this series was broadcasted on radio and adapted by storytellers. During this period of time, Jin Yong moved back to the Da Gong Bao daily. His next great novel was Bixie Jian. In 1957, Jin Yong left Da Gong Bao and entered the Great Wall to write movie scripts, edit films, and continue to write novels. When his next novel Shediao Yingsyong Jhuan was released in 1958, the main characters and plots created in this novel became popular topics of discussion. Because of the dramatic success of this book, Jin Yong at the age of 34 won the reputation as the great master of the new wave of the knight-errant novels.

       Jin Yong established his own newspaper publishing company Ming Bao Daily News on the twentieth of May 1959. And then he published novels in his newspaper such as Shendiao Sialyu, Yitian Tulong Ji. He also wrote articles for the daily. The Ming Bao Monthly was launched in 1965 and then the Ming Bao Weekly in 1967. After his final novel Luding Ji completed between 1971-72, he retired from writing novels. Within the following 10 years he revised his 15 wusia novels and completed this work in 1982.

       Jin Yong was nominated as the chairman of Basic Law Drafting Committee and Consultative Committee of the Hong Kong SAR by the PRC government in 1986 after he was recruited to be a member of the committee in 1985. When the Tiananmen Square democracy movement took place next year, Jin Yong resigned from the committee because he disagreed with the wrongdoings of the PRC government.

       Jin Yong accepted an invitation to visit Oxford University, where he served as an academician of the Modern China Research Centre, for half a year in 1992. He quit as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Ming Bao Group Ltd. and left this company, which he started 34 years ago, on the first of April 1993. Bejing University engaged him as an honorary professor on the twenty-fifth of Oct. 1994. Later he accepted the position as the Dean of the Arts College of Zhejiang University.
