Shui Sheng's, father Shui Dai, with his fellow wugong masters chased Syuedao Laotsu but they were all killed in a snow avalanche except for Hua Tiegan; Syuedao, Di and Shui Sheng were trapped. Syuedao wanted to kill Di, because he found out that Di was once on Shui Dai's side. But Di killed him first. When spring came, the three saviors Di, Hua Tiegan, and Shui Sheng were set free.

When Di went back home, Wan Jhenshan and Wan Gui found the secret of liancheng Jyue, which were carefully buried in the southern suburb of Jiangling city. Ci Fang released this secret but was killed by Wan Jhenshan. In order to catch Wan Jhenshan and his son, Di publicized secret of liancheng Jyue. Then there was a riot and the wugong masters killed each other to get jewelry and valuables. However they were too naive to know that the treasure was covered with poison and they all, including Di's teacher Ci Changfa were poisoned to death. Di, carrying Ci Fang's baby daughter, left Jingjhou city for the avalanched valley, where he found Shui Sheng was waiting for him.

This story demonstrates the greediness of human nature. Jin Yong in this novel combines a few lines of T'ang poetry to create the rhyme of liancheng Jyue, which is an interesting innovation.
