Wolong's real name is Niu Heting. He was born in Zhenting County in Henan Province. After
he retired from the military, he took his pastime hobby, writing wusia novels, to become
his new vocation. He used the penname Wolong Sheng to publish his first novel Fongchen
Siayin in the Mingsheng Rih Bao daily newspaper in Taichung in 1957. This novel was a big
hit, and his subsequent works Feiyan Jinglong in 1959 and Yu Chaimeng in 1960 all had a
good reputation, so he became the most well-known wusia novelist in Taiwan at that time. In
the 70s, he worked as a TV series producer for the CTS. His programs were very popular.
However, when he reached the peak of both fame and wealth, he hired others to use his name
to produce novels. And he did not stop the publisher who used his name to produced crude
works, which amount to at least 20 works. So even though once he was the best novelist, up
until 1990, he had 40 books. |
