Kansiang Damo De Yidao

'The Sword Aiming at Damo' is the literal meaning of this title. Although the protagonists of the author's previous novel Chanyi Dao are mentioned in this book, it is basically a new story about the next generation. The author employed Buddhist teachings in this story as he did in his other books, and yet readers will not feel bored because it is intriguing and fast-paced.

A young man Wei Chenjyue was chased by martial arts masters after they killed his master, Jhao. They also wanted to kill Wei because of the teacher-student relationship he has with Master Jhao. Master Jho had committed the massacre of more than two hundred lives of a family called Wudang, (not the School of Wudang), then ran away for decades. Prior to his death, Master Jhao commanded Wei to learn more powerful wugong from Master Da Bei, a hermit monk.

Many things happened when Wei was on his way to Master Da Bei's place. He had been ambushed and rescued several times. He himself also had rescued a girl named Jhang Erling, whose father was the head of the Tianji Yuan gang. Nevertheless, there were more masters who wanted to execute him because he was involved with the death of Wu Duanhong. Fortunately with the help of the masters of the righteous Wudang School he finally arrived at Da Bei's place. Then under Da Bei's instruction he and Jhang Erling left for India for the powerful wugong.

The story starts a new section after the protagonist left China. It is an episode about an excellent head constable Li Siaotian and the well-known thief Dong Duanhong. Li and two other brilliant head constables traced Dong in order to catch him in the capital city. Although Dong defeated the two constables, he could not beat Li Siatian. However, Li found out that Dong was not a false hero, but in fact by stealing he robbed the rich, helped the poor, and disguised his actual identity as a millionaire. However he irritated both the gangs and the martial arts Schools and they wanted to arrest him for various reasons. Unexpectedly, Wu Duanhong was still alive and joined this posse. At the same time Wei came back from India.

Then the most forceful character came on the scene. She, Yu Hongsiou, a tyrannical mistress, would execute anyone who disobeyed her. In order to stop her, the three masters, Wei, Li, and Dong worked together. They defeated the malicious Yu Hongsiou, Wu Duanhong and other gangs and evil sects, and brought peace to the martial arts circle.

Finally the moral of this story tells that killing may achieve eternal peace. Because the eternal peace never comes, so killing never stops. However as long as killing is for good reasons, then it is merciful.
