Syun Cin Ji

Literally the title means the Investigation in the Cin Kingdom. It combines science fiction with wusia fiction. The protagonist, Siang Shaolong, was the captain of a special forces team in the 21st century. He was sent back to the Warring States Period around 300 BC. He decided to find the famous historic individual, Cin Shih Huang, by using his knowledge of history. And this started his adventure.

He knew Cin Shih Huang was born in Handan, the capital of Jhao Kingdom, so he followed a heard family called Wu to Handan. He strayed when highwaymen ambushed the Wus. Coincidentally he learned excellent wugong. With this wugong he was able to divert the highwaymen from attacking the Wu family when he followed the Wus again. The Wus regarded him as a hero and married a beautiful girl to him. Gradually he became in charge of the Wus' business and because he did it well he developed into a tycoon. The royal family of the Jhao Kingdom was also getting to know him well, especially madam Ni and her son Prince Pan.

With the King of Jhao's mission to steal a secret book from the Wei Kingdom, Siang went to the Wei. He was almost killed there, and when he came back he found Wu in the middle of a political struggle following the death of his friend madam Ni. In an attempt to stabilize the family he decided to regain political power by escorting Princess Jhu, Prince Ying Jheng and Jheng's mother went back the Cin Kingdom. He replaced Ying Jheng with Prince Pan when he found Ying Jheng had died earlier.

Wu relocated in the Cin and Siang had been working hard to assist Prince Pan, now Prince Ying Jheng. He fought against his political opponent Lyu Buwei, led armies to defeat foreign invasions, and pursued the authority to replace the Crown Prince with Prince Ying Jheng. Trying in vain to protect his family he knew that they had to move again, when the newly ascended King of the Cin, Ying Jheng, led troops to attack him and his family. They withdrew to Siberia where they had bought properties already.

Siang Shaolong had an adopted son, Siang Baoer. One day Baoer changed his name to Siang Yu. Shaolong did not stop Baoer, but surprisingly realized that his son was going to terminate the Cin Dynasty. As a retired man living in the remote northern land, he was satisfied with all the great events he had attended before.

It is an amazing work by the science and wusia fiction novelist Huang Yi. He takes readers to the Warring States more than two thousand years ago. Episodes are delicately invented according to school history textbooks. Apart from the fighting scenes that are not less brutal than other wusia novels, it is also a readable nostalgic book.
