Yi Rong

Yi Rong became famous in the 60s. As a talented author, Yi's works are very entertaining. However he retired from writing soon after a few works being published. If Yi had continued writing, he would have become an influential wusia novelist. Wangjhe Jhihjian is one of Yi's best works.

Wangjhe Jhihjian

'Wangjhe Jhihjian' literally means 'the sword of the king.' It starts with the martial arts circle cut up by three evil gangs, the Shencibang, the Fongyunhui and the Tongtianjiao, after the last righteous wugong master was killed in a battle and his wife and his son Hua Tianhong hid away. These three gangs were fighting for a precious Gold Sword, because there is a secret wugong book carved on the Sword.

When the boy grew up, his mother gave him a mission to help a family from being massacred by the devious Wulang Shenjyun. The young man not only rescued this family, but also eventually helped the whole martial arts circle. In other words he acts as the Redeemer.

From an ordinary person to the hero of the martial arts circle, this young man's adventure was very complicated. He had fallen in love with three females. The first was the second daughter of the head of the Shencibang gang, Bai Jyunyi; she was very beautiful and she loved the young man, Huan Tianhong, too. The second one was Cin Wanfong. She came from the family, which Hua left at his mother's request. When Hua was poisoned she took him to get medication, and Hua's internal strength improved dramatically. The third one Hua was involved with was Lady Yuding of the Tongtianjiao gang. She cured Hua by giving him a precious magic mushroom.

Before a wugong contest held by the Tongtianjiao gang, Bai Jyunyi fell off a cliff. In order to rescue her, Hua also jumped off. At the bottom of the cliff Hua found a precious wugong book, and his wugong became much better then. After the wugong contest, only the Shencibang gang remained in power. The newcomer was the Jiuinjiao gang. They and other martial arts masters all wanted to get Hua, because the dark iron sword he carried was actually the Gold Sword and the precious wugong book was on it. They kidnapped Bai Jyunyi and Lady Yuding as hostages to force Hua to give them the sword.

Before long the School of Singsu came to the Central Plains. Their intention was to get wugong books. Hua stopped them successfully and he brought peace to the martial arts circle. He finally married Cin Wanfong and led a happy life.

This story is neatly written. The language used is fluent and the episodes are suspenseful. The ending, which was deliberately created only to make the protagonist the number one in the martial arts circle, is not as good as other parts of this story.
