'Come Drink with Me, Dozui Sia'

1966 saw the release of the successful movie, 'Come Drink with Me, Dazui Sia.' This movie started a new style of wusia movie. Prior to it, the fight scenes in wusia movies were mostly from the well-rehearsed Chinese opera performing choreography, so, apart from the special effects in the movie studio and the occasional magic, they were like a documentary of Chinese opera to the movie audience. This movie successfully introduced the fast-paced shooting technology, and new film cutting and editing skills. As a result, this movie became a milestone in the Chinese wusia movie genre

This movie starts with a hostage rescue mission by the martial arts mistress, Jhang Siyan known by her nickname Jin Yanzih (played by Cheng Pei-pei). Her elder brother Jhang Bucing was abducted by the gang, Suoming Wuhu as a hostage to exchange for the gang's leader, who was locked up by the father of the brother and sister, the Chief Administrator of the Liangjiang District. Jin Yanzih stayed in an inn called Gansheng, and before long she was besieged by the gang led by Yin Jhongyu (played by Chan Hung Lit, Chen Honglie), who believed that she was their toughest rival. Subsequently there was a violent fight in the inn. Jin Yanzih demonstrates her martial arts by fending off the wine barrels and benches thrown at her, and she speedily collects her change from the barman, and then uses both chopsticks and fans to catch the darts coming at her. Her ability scared the Suoming Wuhu gang, so they ambushed her after she entered her room. A master feigning to be drunken, Zuisia, rescued her.

Zuisia is a member of the beggar gang, Gaibang. He always carries a stick to drive away the dogs barking at him and plays around with beggar kids. He never directly tells Jin Yanzih the place where her brother is locked up; finally, after being chased and begged he gives Jin Yanzih a puzzle and the answer is a certain temple. Jin Yanzih rushes to the temple, but she confronts a fully prepared gang and the Zuisia's senior fellow disciple, Diao Jingtang (played by Yeung Chi Hing, Yang Jhijing). She is defeated and seriously wounded, fortunately Zuisia once again rescues her.

Zuisia explains to her that he was a homeless orphan until Diao Jingtang took him back to the Gaibang gang, where he got shelter. However Diao murdered their master in order to gain the position as the head of Gaibang. At the end of this movie, Zuisia avenged his master by killing Diao Jingtang, and Jin Yanzih was reunited with her brother.

Many Chinese traditions appear in this movie, including the beggar's song, Lianhua Lao, sung by the beggar kids and the Chinese puzzle, which unveils the location of the temple. The well-choreographed acting combined with the innovative filming skill successfully impresses the audience.
