The Double Axes, shuangfu

The double axes have short shafts, and the user of them holds two axes when fighting. The single ax has a long shaft, which is not as easy to use; the shorter double axes can blow, cut, chop, shave, hit, circle and block. It looks very masculine when someone employs this weapon, which evokes the scenes of someone finding a way through the primitive mountain brush.

There were quite a few persons famous for using this weapon. Sing Daorong, a subordinate of the warlord Yuan Shu, held the double axes and ran into the battle array of Kong Ming, the great strategist, who thereby had to draw back. Cheng Yaojin, one of the heroes who found the Tang Dynasty, also used this weapon. Although he only had three forms and he repeated using them, his strength was too powerful for any one to stop him. Li Kui known by his nickname heisyuanfong, the black whirlwind, in the vernacular novel, Shuihu Jhuan, is excellent in using the double axes, which helped him to complete many achievements.
