The Concealed Weapons, anci The
concealed weapon was one of the weapons most commonly described in wusia novels.
They had unbelievable magical effects although their size was very small. In Shendiao
Sialyu by Jin Yong, the heroine Siao Longnyu has a weapon called yufongjhen,
the needle of the jade hornet. It is made of 60 percent gold and 40 percent steel. It is
as thin as a hair and has a high dose of poison. Siao Longnyu uses this needle to fight
her senior fellow disciple Li Mochou, who also has a similar weapon called bingpoyinjhen.
In Tiandi Longhu by Siao Yi, there is a concealed weapon called pailajhen,
the white wax needle. According to the novel, it is made of the paste of the crushed
insect called Bailachong. When this needle entered the victim’s body, body heat would
melt the toxic insect paste, then it would flow inside of the victim’s body and the
victim would die in extreme pain.
One of the seven weapons invented in the series novels by Gu Long is called kongcyueling.
This weapon is described as a bazooka. When it starts its launch, the flame is as
beautiful as the peacock’s opened tail, and the victim will be amazed before he suffered
its lethal hit. This novel says that this powerful weapon is too strong to have had any
successful counter weapon for 300 years, and that it has killed 300 top martial arts
masters. High praise in deed.
A fatal concealed weapon called wufongchaoyuan has been invented in one of the
popular puppet budaisi plays, Pili Leiting. This weapon is made to be like a rose.
When its employer hits the victim with it, its toxic thorns will sting the victim, who
will not die immediately but will experience that the five colors, red, yellow, blue,
white and black, one after another on his/her forehead. When the black color comes on the
scene, the victim dies.
Gu Long, in his series novel Seven Weapons, says that there are 360 different
concealed weapons. Although this number is exaggerated, the small lethal things have
various shapes. They mostly belong to the throwing and shooting classes of weapons such as
various kinds of needles, darts, beads, and the notorious flight-weapon “Siedizih,?which
is described to be able to chop the victim’s head off and then returns to its user like
an advanced boomerang. |
