Chi Mei Museum - Tainan, Taiwan

      Since 1980 when the Chi Mei Culture Foundation was first established. It's main aim has been to bring to the people of Taiwan and in particular, to those of Tainan and Southern Taiwan, an introduction to both natural history and the history and culture of all the nations of the world, by no means an easy task. This enormous project has however made tremendous headway, and the Foundation continues to forge ahead in its relentless ambition to present its ever growing collection an instrument to acquire knowledge and understanding of the world around us.


      The museum houses not only a large natural history collection, but also collections of paintings, sculptures, musical instruments, mechanical instruments, clocks, scientific instruments, antiquities and arms and armour. Many people are surprised to see such an important collection of arms and armour in a culture center.
