There are fourteen kinds of animals that are unique to Taiwan of which thirteen belong to the bat and rodent family. The Formosan monkey is the only large animal among them that is why it is delicate and exclusive monkey has become so well known. 

In Taiwan's High Mountain area the Formosan Macaque is relative calm inside this is not because there are many of them but because they are active during the day and live together in-groups. If they encounter humans the give a sever cry making them seem more common then what they are. 

In the past trips of Formosan Macaque could be seen not only in the mountains but also shuffling there way through the forest of the flat lands. But because of industrial development the Formosan Macaque has been driven away from its original home. 

In the great natural forest it has become difficult to sight wild Formosan Macaque leaping about and happy abandoned.
