Small black prickles cover the stem and branches. It blossoms in spring. The orange-red flowers emerge in dense. The leaves are trifoliate. The pods contain egg-shaped seeds. It is native to southern part of Taiwan, Orchid Island and Green Island. Now they are planted on sidewalk and in the campus.
