The Jhang family shrine
There is a saying in Kinmen that goes
"The temple of Guan'ao, and the ancestral shrine of Cingyu". This refers to the
majesty of the temple on Guan'ao and the splendour of Jhang shrine of Cingyu village.
Apart from the tall ceilings and spacious rooms in the building, it also has wonderful
decoration. On the roof there are both round and curved tubular tiles to distinguish
between officials and the common people.
These tiles are arranged
identically on both sides of the roof, to the left and to the right. The more there are
the higher the social status of the resident. The dragon is a symbol of the emperor. The
stone dragons in front of the shrine have four claws, in order to distinguish them from
those of the emperor, which have five.
