Yang family shrine

A large part of the Yang clan live in Guan'ao Village of Kinmen's Jinsha Township.

The Yang family's ancestor was Liangjie Gong, a brother of one of the consorts at the Song court. When the Mongol army invaded the Song capital at the end of the thirteenth century, he escaped in a small boat, under an assumed name, to Kinmen.

He settled at the base of Mount Beida, calling the place Guan'ao, with guan meaning "official," to ensure that the Yang family did not forget the past glory of working for the Song court and serving the Emperor.
