| Paiwan is one of the aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Numbering roughly 70,000, the Paiwan live in the mountainous areas of Pingtung and Taitung counties. Paiwan society is composed of an aristocracy and the common people. The eldest heir inherits the family’s home, name, and property. The religious beliefs of the Taiwan are center around a creator and ancestral spirits. Many Paiwan Villages hold solemn five-year ceremonies. |
